Considering a career change can be a daunting prospect, often it is difficult to know where to start. Our Career Change Support course provides you with a rewarding opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge with the support of quality career guidance.

But first, it is essential to ask ourselves, what are the basic skills required to thrive in today's economic environment? Flexibility, communication skills, personal and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent writing skills and are all critical skills. In addition, all workplaces now require strong ICT skills and digital literacy. An entrepreneurial mindset also gives both individuals and businesses the edge that is needed to complete the current challenging landscape. Our career change support course builds on many of these essential skills.

In this course, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop entrepreneurial skills to support business development and growth.

  • Develop creative, problem-solving skills.

  • Build reliable computer and digital literacy.

  • Skills for today's modern world.

  • Develop excellent reflective, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Applicants should have a full Level 3 Certificate, Junior Certificate, or equivalent qualifications. Places may also be available for those who have left school early and can demonstrate relevant life and work experiences.

To be able to participate fully in this programme, learners need the following:

  • Be reasonably comfortable with reading writing and spelling in English.

  • Basic computer skills such as basic word processing, Internet or email.

  • Be able to work effectively in a group situation.

  • Attend all timetabled classes for the duration of the programme.

  • Participate in the work experience aspects of the programme.

  • Access to a computer and the Internet to study.

All courses, dates, and times are provisional and must be confirmed. Programme modules are provisional and may be changed at the discretion of the ETB. All Classes will commence, subject to a sufficient number of student enrolments.

Once an application form or online application has been received, potential VTOS students are invited to interview, they may also be asked to complete an initial assessment.
