Healthcare Assistant QQI Level 5 Major Award 5M4339 (Full-time course)
As Ireland’s healthcare sector continues to grow, demand for suitably qualified staff increase. This course is for those who wish to enter the Community or Healthcare services and work in a supportive role in many healthcare and community care settings.
Students who successfully complete this course go on to work in healthcare settings such as local nursing homes and hospitals, homecare support agencies, medical centres.
This course is also designed for those who wish to progress to Social Studies and Community studies in Higher Level Education.

In this course, students will
Acquire the knowledge, skill, and competence to work in a range of support, community and healthcare settings.
Develop creative, problem-solving skills.
Explore the field of health and community care with a view to reskilling / up-skilling.
Develop excellent reflective, interpersonal and team working skills.
Acquire critical skills for challenging times.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a full Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate, or equivalent qualifications. Places may also be available for those who have left school early and can demonstrate relevant life and work experiences.
To be able to participate fully in this programme, learners need the following:
The learner must be a confident reader writer and speller in the English language.
Basic computer skills such as basic word processing, Internet and email are required.
Be able to work effectively in a group situation.
Attend all timetabled classes for the duration of the programme.
Motivated to learn and interested in healthcare.
Have access to a computer or laptop, and have a good internet connection.

All courses, dates, and times are provisional and must be confirmed. Programme modules are provisional and may be changed at the discretion of the ETB. All Classes will commence, subject to a sufficient number of student enrolments.
